The carnival is celebrated prior to Lent and is generally celebrated in February or March depending on the local calendar. During these days Ecuador turns into something else countrywide. Most popular carnivals are held in Ambato in the southern Andes. Thousands of people visit the city of Ambato for the big carnival parade showcasing pretty flowers and exotic fruits. Guaranda also celebrates their carnival in a big way. The custom here is to soak others with water and cover them with flour, powder, or foam. There is local music performed by brass bands day and night.
Four days of maximum fun where these towns celebrate with such overwhelming joy and happiness.
